I’m so glad you’re here! My name is Jennifer Schmitt, and I’m the designer, writer, calligrapher, quote collector, and Blackwing pencil devotee behind Six-Penny Stamp.

For years, I’ve worked as a copywriter and art director for The J. Peterman Company, a catalog company known for romance, adventure, and nostalgia… work that has deeply shaped my love of storytelling, beautiful objects, and the art of atmosphere.

It all led me toward building a world of my own… 

In late 2025, I started a monthly mail club called The Prose & Post Society as a way to send something thoughtful and lasting out into the world — envelopes filled with literary quotes, original art prints, and charming extras designed for readers and curious souls.

Everything you’ll find here is created from that place.

And the name, Six-Penny Stamp? It comes from the price of a postage stamp in 1968, the year I was born.

I’m based in Summerville, just north of Charleston.
